Why study A Practical Person’s Guide to Feeling Good and Doing Good?

Each of us can make the Guide our lifetime’s most important reading, certainly within the top five!  This is because it provides the basic information to accomplish three of the most rewarding skills we can experience:

  1. Becoming our own best friend, lifelong.

We actively converse with our self more than all others combined.  Humankind is the only species to become its own worst enemy.  We blame, “guilt,” worry, engage in prejudice, resentment, and hatred, and we waste our energy on unproductive destructive aggression, largely as the outcome of our immature manner of thinking.  We can become our own marvelous traveling companion through practice of simple skills of self-endorsement such as those provided.

  1. Freeing our self from domination by the commands of our nature and nurturers, i.e. instinct and habit, fate and circumstance.  The newer way of thinking provided is easily taught and readily learned.

Our thought processing is constrained by the dichotomous and prescriptive manner of thinking (explained in the language strens) we acquire when our mind is undeveloped and immature.  The Guide provides a small vocabulary of easy word substitutions that rewire our data processing.  These “trigger-words” make a big difference as they update our thinking to effectively manage the new challenges we face.  The newer pathways emphasize personal responsibility and problem-solving more so than the dependency, blaming, and the prejudiced (pre-judged) meanings inherent in every native language.  Thereafter, the Guide focuses on those strens that add wisdom to self-mastery, and the application of our freed mind to the ominous challenges we communally face.

  1. MOST IMPORTANT: Becoming a valuable member of the larger community we all share by contributing to its weapons of mass construction.

Upon his discovery of E=mc2 Einstein prophesied: “Everything is changed.  We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive!”  The stren Good Aggression explains why Einstein was right and what we must do to survive this challenge. Within our very generations, we witness the onset and proliferation of an increasing variety of weapons of mass destruction, and the number of persons who control them.  The doomsday clock is ticking close to midnight.  Just as our prevalent manner of thinking causes us to be our own worst enemy, so it is taking us on a course to global holocaust … unless we develop a newer way of thinking!  As our science thrusts us into this new era of “human selection,” empowering us to replace natural selection, we may choose what degree we shall have peace-of-mind and peace-for-humankind and/or Armageddon.  The Guide explains why the challenge we face is quite doable.  It offers the specific strens (mental strengths) which make a difference.  We need only mobilize our collective will!

If you are reading this Guide, you are likely among the minority who have already attained many of the skills provided re item 1 and 2.  Having attained these prerequisite skills, will you become an active participant in goal 3?

The wisdom contained in the Guide is presented in bits and pieces I call “strens”. Practical strens are generally short, easily understood directions for the what-to-do steps that bring rapid change.  Theory strens explain “why” and “how” it works.  They require more thought and offer greater opportunity to innovate.  You choose to what degree you are satisfied taking the technician approach, choose to attain architect/engineer knowledge, or some degree in-between.

The strens are the insights of others who have demonstrated their effectiveness.  The Guide’s major contribution is the presentation of their wisdom in a format that can be easily understood, acquired, customized to one’s personal life situation, expanded, and passed on to others.  The Guide is available on computer disk [info@ANWOT.org] and/or the Internet [ANWOT.org] upon request at no charge.  These formats allow knowledge to be readily modified, expanded, and updated to meet the consumer’s needs.  By adding your own collection of life’s wisdom(s) to embellish the strens, you may provide a personalized bequest to loved ones more meaningful than material wealth.

The Practical Person’s Guide to Feeling Good and Doing Good through A Newer Way of Thinking, ANWOT, contains the requirements for its success because:

Mental freedom from the demands of instinct and habit, nature and our nurturers,
fate and circumstance, is among our most sought-after goals.  Skill in thought
control emancipates our will to direct our own life’s experience.
ANWOT is easy to teach and learn, and may readily be embraced by the masses of all
cultures.  Communication technology and computers make it available at little or no
cost in one’s own home and/or convenient locations.
The skills to feel good and do good are universally desired.
How many are for peace-of-mind, peace-for-humankind?  How many against?  Strens
emphasize the wisdom which, when added to self-mastery, directs our energy to
weapons of mass construction more so than weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
We far more prefer those common values universally recognized by philosophers and
preached by our religions than those that stir conflict.  We want to create the utopian
world that is within our capability.
The blaring sirens warning us of the impending use of weapons of mass destruction
are increasingly difficult to ignore.  They are a promising source of motivation.
